Post Amputation and Rigid Dressings

Comprehensive Amputee Rehabilitation- The process of rehabilitation after an amputation can be overwhelming. We guide you through each phase to reduce the length of down time and keep the goal in reach!

1) Pre-operative consideration

  • Peer counseling
  • Post amputation goals and planning- comprehensive evaluation
  • Physical Therapy to avoid deconditioning and prepare for prosthetic training

2) Amputation and Direct post-op treatment

The literature supports that rigid dressings result in significantly accelerated rehabilitation times and significantly less edema compared with soft gauze dressings.

Prefabricated pneumatic prostheses were found to be associated with significantly fewer postoperative complications and required fewer higher-level revisions compared with soft gauze dressing.
