Who We are
At Specialized Orthopedic Solutions Inc., helping people live a better quality of life is what we do. We accomplish this by providing innovative medical technologies that are first in quality, reliability and efficiency in the prosthetic, orthopedic and sports medicine realm.
Since 2003 we have been providing quality durable medical equipment throughout Southern California, including but not limited to: upper and lower extremity bracing, continuous passive motion (CPM) devices, contrast/compression therapy, electro-therapy devices, post-operative & pain management modalities and a full range of home health products designed to meet or exceed the needs of our patients.
The recent launch of our Prosthetics Division, an On-Site Fabrication and Patient Care Facility; has allowed us to broaden our scope of care throughout the healthcare industry. By utilizing the same approach to customer service and product quality, we will maintain our reputation of professionalism and integrity that we have been known for with our patients, referring physicians and medical institutions for years.
Since quality patient care is paramount at SOS Medical, we are available on a 24 hour basis to assist with any questions or concerns that may arise.
How We Are Reimbursed
Rest is essential in the recovery process and being burdened with an unforeseen medical bill can be unsettling. Therefore, as your health care provider, we handle all of your billing needs; be that in the workers compensation, private insurance, or Medicare sector. If for any reason your insurance does not cover the entire bill and there are out of pocket expenses to incur, you will be notified prior to services rendered and we will be happy to discuss options with you.
With our combined experience of over 30 years, SOS Medical aims to deliver leading customer care through a comprehensive approach. We take a patient’s entire health into consideration when recommending a product. We will stand by our patients not only to provide post rehabilitation equipment orthotics and the highest quality prostheses, but through physical therapy and beyond.
SOS MEDICAL recognizes that goals can only be achieved in an environment of understanding. That is why we actively seek input from our patients to follow their direction and work with them hand in hand to give them the proper tools and necessary resources to allow them to achieve their own goals. We understand that patient’s rehabilitation depends on our professionalism, ethical behavior, and excellent quality care.
Specialized Orthopedic Solutions, Inc. understands that the care of Orthotic and Prosthetic (O&P) patients involves the integration of several medical disciplines that begin with the Attending Physician’s diagnosis. From there, the course of treatment is generally determined by a Vascular Surgeon, Orthopedic Surgeon or Physiatrist who then writes a prescription and refers the patient to our O&P facility for treatment. Our practitioners then consult with both the referring physician and the patient to create the design of an orthotic or prosthetic device to suit that patient’s individual needs.
SOS Medical’s priority is ensuring 100% satisfied with both, the quality of care we provide and the product we produce. Long periods of time are sometimes required in creating our products so we have designed our Patient Care Facility to help you feel welcomed and comfortable during your visit. Our facility is equipped with all the necessary tools and materials needed to fabricate your prosthetic on-site rather than sending it to a Central Fabrication Facility, thus eliminating the number of issues that arise from doing so.
During your first visit, our prosthetists will conduct a thorough evaluation of your medical history, discuss your short and long term goals for the future, your expectations of your prosthetic and how we will be there for you every step of the way. The information gathered allows us to determine the type of prosthesis that will best suit you, your lifestyle and your needs as we map out a plan for the days, months, and years to come.
Next is the process of taking impressions of the residual limb. We take a plaster impression of the residual limb that will be used to make a prosthetic socket. The socket tends to be the most important part of the prosthesis in terms of comfort. Having a poorly designed socket can prove to be very painful and uncomfortable; therefore, taking accurate measurements at this stage is essential. Should it be determined that there is excessive amount of swelling to the residual limb, we may suggest various home stretches and exercises along with cold/ compression therapy prior to moving forward.
Generally, the second visit would include the fitting and evaluation of the new socket. This is like a “rough draft” of a finished prosthesis. When necessary, appropriate adjustments will be made on-site to ensure a proper fit. It is also during this appointment that we will test remaining components of your prosthesis designed to help you achieve the goals previously discussed. Upon the following visit, your prostheses will be fitted and your journey will begin.
Whether at your home, office or hospital bedside, we are committed to excellence. Our highly trained and dedicated patient care coordinators will travel to you to provide comprehensive educational tutorials that ensure customer product knowledge. Since quality patient care is paramount at SOS Medical, we are available on a 24 hour basis to assist with any questions or concerns that may arise.
